October - Breast Cancer Awareness

I will change my Blog's background to pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!!!

White After Labor Day?

ABSOLUTELY (as my friend Nancy would say). I don’t like for anyone to tell me what to do, and more so, what to wear or when to wear it. In the South, not wearing white after Labor Day has not taken hold. In September, the weather is still very warm. Would I do it if I was still living up North? ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY!! I love, love, love white. I didn’t wear it much growing up because I was such a tomboy and couldn’t stay clean. Then when I got older, I had kids. Need I say more? Well, my kids are older now, and while they can’t keep their whites clean, I certainly can. Below is a picture of my beautiful cousin Jalli. When I saw this picture, I fell in love with it. I tried that look myself, but that was before I started this blog so I don’t have a picture.

Anyway, WEAR WHITE WHENEVER THE HECK YOU FEEL LIKE IT!!

Save it!

I USED to have tons of jackets that looked like this. What did I do with them all? Threw them away!! Aaaaahhhhhh! Yes, I wish I still had them all. I dont care how old they would have been, as you can see from my 1995 Shoes, I save things that I love and won’t mind using again and again. My point? Save it! We have already learned how fashion is just one big circle. It keeps coming back around. I have tons of suits that I am not using because I now work in a more relaxed environment. But am I going to get rid of them, NOPE! Not only can I use them as separates, you just never know where you will land tomorrow.

And to prove my point even further, look at the dress my mom wore years and years go when I was, I dont know, 4. Beautiful!!

Pink Panther

InStyle

So while I was getting some new tires on my car last night, I was flipping the pages of InStyle Mag and I ran across this pic which reminded me that I have a pink dress, not exactly the same, but somewhat, that I have not worn. Well, I decided to give it a try today because the weather is changing soon and I wont be able to wear it. Since I was coming to work, I didn't want to wear it strapless, so I put a jean jacket over it and some casual shoes to make it look less dressy.

Now, before you go talking in your head, I know they dont look exactly alike, but it did remind me of it darn it.

Gray_White_Yellow

Mixing colors is fun!! This wasn’t such a challenge though. Sometimes, all you need is one article of clothing, shoes in this case, to make your outfit pop. As I looked in my closet, I saw this necklace that looked perfect with it so I added that as well.

The Secret to Living Well on $40,000 a Year

I read this very interesting article on Yahoo! Two great tips he gave in the article are: Live below your means (not within your means) and giving yourself a 24hr breather before purchasing something. Trully enjoyed it and is helping me with my new experiment of not shopping. So far, I have been doing WONDERFUL! I just knew that I would have broken down by now. But NOPE!!! Still staying strong and enjoying very much saving a little bit of change.

What's the hardest financial rule for you to follow personally?
Living below my means is the toughest rule for me to follow. There are so many temptations — Madison Avenue spends billions of dollars each year to get our money — and sometimes I want to buy things I know I should not. When this occurs, I allow myself a 24-hour breather and, if I still feel strongly about buying that object after this time, I will discuss it with Tracy. The great thing is, after I let the emotional aspect have time to go away, my more rational side speaks to me and I make a sound decision.

What Not to Wear

Do I really have to ask - this is clearly a NOT!!! I dont even know where to start with this. I am all about having your own style and making it your own. But this? This is not hers or anyones for that matter. I couldnt believe my eyes. I wanted to tell her to never ever do that again. Fashion Fail!

This dress could have complimented her a bit more. Very sexy and classy.

Fashion Tip:

DO NOT wear hosiery with patterns as this adds volume. Avoid stretchy fabrics except for intimates: these cling to all the wrong places like boobs and sticking out bellies, etc. Find your style – Just because its popular doesn’t mean you have to wear it or add it to your wardrobe. Finding your individual style is very difficult for plus sizes but not impossible and with the rise in stores dedicated to plus size fashion it’s getting easier.
